The Decentralization Question

Maybe decentralization was never the point.

Maybe the point was just
not having to ask permission
to send your money
where you wanted it to go.

Maybe the point was that
your grandmother in Caracas
could finally receive remittances
without paying 30% to Western Union.

Did we overcomplicate this?
Did we build cathedrals
when all we needed were doors?

Maybe decentralization was just loneliness
with better marketing.

I don't know the answer.
But I know the question
keeps me awake some nights.
